A customer of mine w/ Monterey and 905 writes..."
That something is going on with the polarity control that the sidecar exercises over the monterey. i know t4 was having problems - but on my all day records of the porn channels on the replay tv - every once in a while the signal changes and it becomes snowy like you need a ti filter and then when the signal bounces back - the vcii kicks in and you see the services ident come up as if you had just changed channels. then tonight on the nbc ku band feed the same thing
happened and it lasted three minutes and twenty five seconds. but no vcii cause it isn't."

Any suggestions?

Before turning off the 905 go to analog mode by pressing the A/D button and see if this helps. If it does not help go to analog mode an and don't power the 905 down. If the problem occurs while the 905 is on and is in analog mode the problem is probably not caused to the 905's controlling the polarity.

I am using a Monty 90 with the 905.

We spend alot on time viewing programing on T5 with a Mpeg2/DVB receiver. With the 905 turned off we will be getting a signal strength of 50 and quality of 97 on the samsung receiver. Every couple of hours or so the signal strength stays the same and signal quality drops to 0.

It appears with the 905 off the servo will wander off then come back to where the 90 is setting it. I have not completed all of my testing yet to confirm my opinion.

Today when I left for work I left the 905 on set to T5. I will get a complete report from the wife when I get home.

Jim

You know, I don't know if this is related, but twice now I have had to unplug/replug the 905 to gain access to the polarizer. AAMOF, last night I was watching TV and I heard a "click" from the unit. It sounded like the click when you hit the A/D button or shut it off.
After the click, I lose all control of the polarity. And the picture on the analog receiver looks a little off like you explain.

Later,
ken

After leaving the the 905 on and set to T5 we did not have any failure on the mpeg2 signal. However, I was woke up at 4 this morning with the wife complaining of a "bad signal" on the TFC channel on T5.
I told her about the timer settings and update from G0 at 3:30.

I will check my connections and wires going from the 90 to the 905 saturday.

Thanks for your response. Today I revisited the customer with a replacement 905 in hand. I was shown a recording of the analog video when the problem was occurring. One example on T4 and another on GE1 Ku. After seeing the video, I don't think it was a polorizer issue. I think it's something in the video loop through. The picture goes from perfect to terrible (short black horizontal lines very dense. Picture still viewable) no signs of cross polorization.
He was not using theAD button and when I forwarded your suggestion, he misinterpreted it and still turned off the 905 after pressing the button.
I've installed another unit anyway. He will operate it as you suggested and after not seeing the problem for a day or so, he will resume the way he was using it to see if there's anything we need to tell the group.
