This may have been covered before, but I have not seen it. Where do I find ESPN Classic? Which satellite and which transponder?

I'm not sure if Darryl has this in his FAQ collection. If not, it outght to be there.

This has been discussed a gazillion times. Since old threads are very hard to review on Delphi, you might look hard and not find it.

ESPN Classic Sports is uplinked for cable distribution as an encrypted MPEG2 C band signal on C3.

Classic Sports is turned around and redistributed by AT&T as part of their HITS (Head End In The Sky) service to smaller cable companies and MDUs. This is a Ku DC2 signal on X4 that is potentially receivable by 4DTV receivers.

Why can't we subscribe? A very good question. GI/Motorola have been "having discussions" with ESPN for over 4 years. They have yet to work out an agreement. The issue is money.

When they are asked when things will be sorted out GI/Motorola sources say only that "we're working on it."

Classic Sports is one of a number of channels not otherwise available to TVRO that are already uplinked in DC2 and could be received by 4DTVs if contractual issues could be resolved.

This is a longstanding source of frustration to the 4DTV community.

Forum members tend to place the blame for this unfortunate situation on inept management within GI/Motorola.

By way of background, you should keep in mind that GI/Motorola designed, built, staffed and managed the AT&T HITS uplink and control facility under a contract with AT&T (AKA TCI Cable).
