Hi,
No luck so far. I still can't get the message about a Digitial Carrier Channel nor the Sat name on the top of the screen. Authorizing hasnt helped any more. I dont know if its still a skew problem or if its a hardware problem with the 905 or a configuration issue on my part. Any ideas? Is this sounding DOA?
Thanks
Rob

Failing to work with the suggestions I have given you has me stumped. Hopefully a GI tech. or 4DTV service tech. will see your posting and come to your aid.If not, try calling Motorola next week.
Best of luck, and I shall follow this post with interest.

Hi: I've read the message string so far...I set up a lot of these sidecars and worked for Mot...until, well that is another story...
Here's what I'd do. Make sure your analog receiver is pointed at sat G0 (out door channel on 24) put the analog receiver on an odd numbered channel, such as 23 for A&E. That is all that is necessary for the analog--it does not need to be tuned to ch 9. Make sure that the polarity wires are correctly attached to the top row of connections for the side car. The polarity jumper connects to the bottom row and goes to the analog receiver. Once all of this is correct, do a master reset of the memory. option 6-7-7-8 and select the reset option. The unit will turn off and reboot--takes a couple of minutes. Now, the unit is the way it was when it came out of the box. Go into the program mode and select sat G0. Exit the programming mode and go to the satellite select mode (there will only be one satellite to select at this time) and select sat G0. Tune to ch 9. Exit out of all menus and messages. Push the up arrow and you will get a menu with skew adjustments and the quality number. Look at the front panel of the receiver, do you have a green light? If you have a green light, let the receiver map in the digital channels for a few minutes. If the light is red, don't adjust the skew---go back into the programming menu and select "rotated 90 deg" for feed horn polarization---then you will get the green light. Let it map for a few minutes. Go to the program satellite menu, and select all the satellites you want to store. No need to move the dish. After waiting thru this, check to see if you got at least 1 hit, if not call your provider and get them to trip it. It only needs 1 hit/month to stay current. There is nothing to see on ch 9 so try ch 780, 781, 782 etc.
Be aware that the "900" numbered channels are analog audio not receivable by the sidecar but they are avalilable on your analog receiver by tuning subcarriers from 5 to 8.5 Mhz. BTW, if your LNB is pretty old, you may need to replace it, even though it works ok on analog. .....The book for these sidecars is pretty crappy but the receiver is easy to operate, you just gotta spit out the gum and hold your mouth right! Try again and good luck.
