I spoke to a dealer today and he told me that he is selling the 921's with a dish for $400cdn.
He is selling the 920's for $1200.
How come the difference.

If there is a black list code for 921's and Star Choice stops authorizing them, then what will we have????

This is enough.
GI and Star Choice have no busniess telling us what we can and cant watch. I took off the pathetic Star Choice Sticker off my unit, and there it said 4DTV.

That's what we have, that's what we should be able to use without restriction..

Hi, me again.

Yes your 921 is a 4DTV... but it's a canadian 4DTV distributed (was) by Star Choice and by doing so they have the right to sell it the price they want.

In fact, Star Choice wanted to lauched it's DTH service before Expressvu and the receiver that were available to do it fast was the 4DTV.

Why so big a difference, because when Star Chocie launched, they knew that nobody... or a majority of people would not buy a 1200$ small dish system to get the same programming as their local cable would provide so they paid 50% of the unit when they sold one. So customer paid around $700 instead of 1200$.

Finally, Star Choice and GI don't decide which Tv channel is or isn't available for you to watch. The CRTC and the FCC does to "protect" both market. So if you don't agree with that, write to them etc...

I've said it before and I'll say it again. The 921 is providing you the best of both world. Canadian Digital and American Analog + ITC, FTA and wild feed. What can you ask more?

If you're not happy with your 921, sell it and by a 920. After all you didn't pay for your 921 did you? If you make 500 to 600$ with it and then buy a 4DTV, the 920 will have cost you only half the price.

Now I'M MAD... Those who know me will know why?

No, StarChoice will continue to authorise all sold and to be sell 921 receiver. They'll continue to provide service to all 921 owners, they just decided that the 921 cost them to much... because they pay %50 of the receiver everytime they sold one.

Also, I think that they don't like the fact that the 921 connected on a big dish can provide access grey market analog american programming.

Also, garanty on sold or to be sell receiver will still be good if you need repair. They just wnat to stop selling this receiver and go with the small dish set up.

I was told that they also plan to drop the DSR411 for the new DSR421 with AC3 audio and S-Video for small dish.

Ok bye, Sorry... you'll know why!

If you can get a 921 and a dish for $400 I suggest you do it, because that is below dealer cost.

Since any FTA DCII transmission you may find is
considered ITC, you would be off the hook on that
one. Being as the security in DSR 921 is Starchoice
security, that is legal also. You could be in
trouble if you have ANY VC module, chipped or
subscription.
