Please help with this if you can...
I can't set the limit's on the 4D (currently reads between 4990 and 5000).
I can however move the dish from the "Adjust Picture" option. It makes a few clicks then says it reached it's limits press "go back". When I do this I can continue to inch it up or down. It never changes the count though (still at around 5000).
I checked the blue & brown wires for continuity (by disconnecting the receiver and actuator and twisting the two together). It reads 14 ohms. I have about 300 foot run to the dish.
Another thing to note is that with everything connected and looking at the four magnets and sensor.....the wheel makes one full revolution (passes 3 magnets)everytime the remote is pressed once.
What should I check or do?
Is this enough information for you guys to help me?
Thanks,
Don

Don, just to make sure that you don't overlook the obvious, what happens if you go to (Options,6,4,3,1&2) and attempt to move the limits farther out?

It says "Physical Limit of Dish has been reached".
If I choose the Sat from the Sat menu it doesn't move, but I can then get there by adjusting dish poisition until I get a picture. Then the same thing all over when I want to changes Sats again.
Thanks, Don

Just go outside and make sure that your dish didn't actually, really reach it's physical limit cause right after I got my 4d and I started to program everything in,I got that message too and I kept trying to figure out what was wrong and then I went outside and oh no,I had my dish going too far and it was starting to break off. I didn't realize at the time that I had the dish going a little bit too far till after I looked, but then it was too late cause then my hubby saw it too and he wasn't really too happy but he helped me to bend it back around a little bit and then it started working again.I hope this will help you. It might not but then you just have to look at every possibility just in case.

Hey Kim,
Not that. At least not this time. A little less than a year ago I wound that baby up to the top too. This really has me baffled.
Thanks anyway Kim.

Hi Don,
I had a simular problem when installing my 4dtv a short while ago. It turned out the sensor/pulse wires were not making good contact at my dish. It was a real puzzler since everything was working well when I switched from my old unit. Even after fixing that, we had to do a system reboot to allow us to finish the installation. Hope its that simple.

Jerry

That narrows things down a great deal. It means that sensor pulses are not being detected at the receiver as the dish moves. Either a sensor connection is bad at the dish or at the receiver, or the sensor itself is faulty. I once got this message after pulling a wire loose behind the 4DTV while working on some other equipment. So, first check your wiring.

Good luck,

Hiey Jerry,
Not likely that. I had already stripped the ends of both wires at the dish and the receiver and reconnected them after I had done an ohm check. There was 14 ohms resistance when I twisted the wires at the dish and checked it at the house. I don't what gauge those wires are but i wonder if 14 ohms is a lot for the 300' run to the dish and 300' back.
Thanks
Don

This happens if you set the limets backwards, leave dish on g9 then reset memory and set limets opposite of instructions in manual I had the same problem and this is what I done to fix it george

CAUTION: That is incorrect. The correct sensor screw terminals to use are the ground and pulse. Do not connect anything to the +5V screw terminal. To do so may damage the reed sensor, the receiver, or both. The +5 V terminal is to be used only with the Hall effect or optical sensors, both of which should be pretty rare at this point in time.

a great picture... but I tried to change satellite and the 4dtv said
the I had reached the dish limits... I tought the were the wired so I changed
them but still the same problem, could the 4dtv be damaged??

I'am sorry about that,to early in the morning,I was thinking about the plorizer terminals, the ones which you stick the wires in.Red to +5,white to Pulse, and Black to ground

I would go over all the wires and make sure they are hooked up right, and go through the installation menu, make sure you set the actuator arm east or west side, also the clock has to appear on the unit when it is turned off,or you won't be able to use all the menu
