With the new channels on A2, I finally got around to attempting to bring in the horizontally polarized channels - but I can't get a lock in spite of leaving tuner on channel for two hours. Get all the vertically polarized channels. I can get a lock on the horizontals using 6,7,7,8 and retuning about 4Mhz off, but as discussed in other recent threads, this doesn't bring in a picture. Any sugeestion would be appreciated.
thanks,
tom

Where are you located? Most of the H-pol channels are on east beams of A2. Here in Oregon, I don't get a lock on any of the East beam stuff. I presume the folks in the east don't get the west beams, either. I also presume the folks in the midwest get both east and west beams.

Ah-Ha, so that's why here in Friday Harbor WA the horizontals are so weak. I think there is some signal there, never-the-less. Does anyone in the Northwest receive a horizontally polarized picture from A2?

Tweak and ye shall find:

tom asked - "Does anyone in the Northwest receive a horizontally polarized picture from A2?"

and the same tom replies: You betcha - I get a bunch, but only 401 and 800 are presently unscrambled. Advice: Try a strange skew setting.

There shall be tweaking tonite, I guess . . . .

Before all the digitalizing, my Uniden used to get occasional watchable signals on some of those east-beam KU channels. Guess I need to give it a try.

Thanks for the suggestion.

For some reason, out here in the east, I loose the horizontal channels from time to time as well. Then I flip polaities and can get all the vertical stuff. I thought it was the sun outages, but this would happen at 10 PM at night. I thought it was my feedhorn or LNB, but the mystery still remains.

Could it be that with Anik E2's many failures over the years, that they could have been damaged?
