The time on my 4dtv is wrong. When my program supplier (Turner Vision) enters my zip of 37415 the clock is one hour behind, (ie...central time zone, I am in Eastern, the time zone is on my county line.) When a zip just east of me is entered the clock shows correct Eastern time. Turner Vision says that GI must have my zip mapped to the Central Time zone incorrectly. I called the 800 number to GI and the guy said that Turner has to set it. PLEASE !!! HELP!!! Who is right ? I just want my clock right.

I got your e-mail earlier and checked into this zip code. You are correct, our database has this zip code mapped to the Central time zone. I have notified the appropriate people to fix this. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Oh by the way....

This also seems to be a problem with Arizona zip codes (85XXX). Arizona does not believe in daylight savings time (if you lived here in the summer you'd want the sun to go down too)and thus we are on Mountain Standard Time (same as Pacific Daylight Savings Time). The display shows Mountain Daylight Savings Time, or in other words, one hour ahead of the correct time. I called HBO Direct once and they fixed it with a rehit, but eventually it went back to being an hour ahead. I've gotten used to it, but would prefer the correct time if it could be fixed.

Keep us the great work!

I don't know if this has been asked but why can't be allowed to set the clock on the 4DTV? Please don't tell me that the users can't set the clock on the VCII(RS) decoder as I don't see the time on that unit until I goto the setup screen which is seldom.

The 4Dtv Dude has answered this serveral times. The reason for having the time set automatically by the system is that the system is MUCH more dependant on the system time than any other unit, so it is critical that the time is accurate. Even if the time is off by 10 seconds, it could affect the guide or IPPV functionality, especially if using a Timer to purchase IPPV programs.

Since the system was designed to get system time from a GPS backed accurate time source, it did not seem necessary to add the ability to allow the consumer to override that system time by setting it himself. And when the system works properly (providers set time zone and daylight savings flag correctly), then this is something the consumer doesn't even have to worry about.

I think the problem is that Arizona does not recognize Daylight Saving Time and the GI subscription data base in San Diego doesn't recognize that.

Actually, the provider enables or disables the daylight savings flag. They also would be able to set the time on your receiver.
