Many people say that using base64 encoding for text attachments is a bug. We have asked Pine developers about this and they said that the highest priority for any attachment is that a MIME tool can recover _exactly_ what was attached. They found that it was not possible to have any reasonable assurance of getting a text attachment through intact without BASE64 encoding. Therefore, they consider BASE64 encoding a feature, not a bug, and do not plan to change Pine in this regard. In addition to this, any file may be included using Control-R, and lack of MIME-aware software is hopefully a short-lived problem. This is even more true in year 2000 so I've decided that this does not worth a wishlist bug anymore. Santiago Vila
