When I try to get either of these channels, all I get is some static. When I go to adjust the picture, the quality box does not even appear. Am I missing something?

Try adjusting the skew or clicking the dish left or right to get the best picture. That alot of times helps alot. At least you are lucky that you have the channels there. I just went to do the unplug/replug not real long ago today and I had to step out a few minutes and someone here at home turned back on the receiver before I was ready for it to be turned back on so now I have to try to get the channel maps back again cause I didnot have 600 or 601 on G1 yet and after the receiver was turned back on,I wanted to leave it sit on G9 11
a few minutes to reload the maps but someone here turned it to MTV instead.

You may have not received the maps containing the correct digital info for those channels yet. Maybe if you go to G9-11 and do the unplug/plugin thing it may help. Until a couple of days ago we were all getting analog white noise on those channels.

There has been a lot of discussion about how to do the unplug manuever.

This is the approved practice as I recall it from the discussion.

1. Park the dish on a satellite that has digital channels. G9 is one obvious choice, and it has the IPG data stream as well.

2. Turn of the power using the remote or IRD power switch.

3. Unplug the AC power for 10 seconds or so. Longer is unnecessary.

4. After plugging the AC power back in LEAVE THE IRD OFF for a half hour or so. The lets channel maps and IPG data download.

5. Switch on and use as usual. You should have channel maps and full IPG data. And your G1/600-601 should work. (At least that's the theory.)

Let us know what happens if you try this. It did work for me.
